We were camping in the RV at Half Moon Bay over Memorial Day weekend in 2018, and as was our habit at the time, we were perusing Yacht World and dreaming about sailing off around the world. Ever since we sold our last “Big Boat” in 2010 (a 2005 Hunter 46LE, sv Snoozie) and downsized to the Capri 18, we (well Dan) had been looking for a Caliber 40LRC as our retirement/see the world boat.
It should be noted that we (well Dan) got hooked on the Caliber 4-LRC model in 2005 before we bought the Hunter, but the Hunter was better suited for our use at the time (floating condo).
Well on that day in 2018 we found her. There she was, calling out to us from the pages of Yachtworld, the ship of our dreams. We flipped through the photos, Watched the video, and we were hooked.
Narnia was located in Kemah, Texas were she was sadly being sold by the widow of the previous owner. They had owned her since new and spent several years living aboard and outfitting Narnia for an adventure cruise that never happened. During that time Narnia rarely left the dock and it showed. She had sat empty for a couple of years before the widow put Narnia, the boat we had been looking for all those years, up for sale. The timing was perfect.
After several flights to Texas, we closed the deal and put Narnia on a truck bound for California. We packed all the “spares” and other equipment into a Penske truck and road tripped home.
Narnia now lives on San Francisco bay where she is once again being readied for her adventure.
