Today is our last full day in Budapest and we spent the morning awaiting the results of our COVID test. During the last 2 weeks of this trip we have been tested for COVID no less then 13 times (all negative) as we traveled from the US and through Europe. We have also had to register in the various countries for contact tracing purposes as well as show or CDC Vaccine Cards in order to enter restaurants, public transit, and attractions. Today’s test is required for our flight back to the US tomorrow. Although the medical team arrived at our hotel room and hour and half late, they were quick and efficient with the swab and we had our results in about 30 minutes. Negative. We could fly home.
We spent the rest of the day strolling around the city and the Great Market Hall. The Great Market hall is in the city center and contains 3 floors of shops. You can get fresh meats, produce, spices, sundries, sweets, drinks, and other items required for day to day living. This is where many locals come for daily shopping. We wandered through the stalls, bought some local chocolate for souvenirs then made our way back to the hotel to pack. We’re going to miss Budapest.
