Time to Fly Home

They say all good things must come to and end, and this is no exception. It’s time to head back home.

We wake early and catch a cab from the hotel to the airport to begin what will be a 20 hour travel day. We have 2 Swiss airline flights today. The 1st one is from Budapest to Zurich and then on to San Francisco. Check-in is uneventful with the usual COVID verifications and questionnaires. We have a light breakfast and coffee in the lounge as we wait for the flight to board. It is delayed. In a time when many flights worldwide are being canceled because of crew shortages we are thankful that we are flying at all.

We board a bus for the ride to the tar mac where the commuter plane is waiting. We board and make the short 1.5 hour flight to Zurich. We disembark, and make our way through the airport and join the que for passport and Corvid checks. A short train ride to the international terminal, one more passport and COVID result check and we arrive at the departure gate with 10 minutes to spare.

Once on the plane, we settle in for the 11 hour 20 minute flight to San Francisco. We sip our Champaign and reflect on the most memorable Christmas Market adventure of 2021!
