We were looking for somewhere to go between now and our Asia/Middle East/Europe trip in early 2023 when an unexpected opportunity presented itself. We were able to book 2 weeks travel in Portugal and Spain, including a cruise along the Douro River, on a previously sold out Viking tour! We were thrilled, Portugal has been on our bucket list forever and the timing was almost perfect.
Now we will be spending August 2022 exploring the exotic lands of Portugal and Spain as part of a land and river tour package along with independent travel on our own before. We will start with a land trip in Lisbon, Portugal, catch a riverboat in Porto, Portugal, and finish in Santiago, Spain. We will have many trips inland during the cruise up the Douro. The river cruise is on board a very small river boat (Viking Osfrid), 32 crew 106 Guest. We are very thankful and excited that this option was opened to us.
Now to practice our conversational Portuguese and educate ourselves on Port Wines.
