The Boatyard Refit is DONE! (mostly)

It’s been a hectic couple of months. We hauled Narnia for what was expected to be a 1 week stay in the boatyard, but of course it turned into 15 days. We didn’t really have any unexpected issues, it is just that everything takes more effort, time and $ then originally planned. As with any project, what works well on the whiteboard doesn’t always translate into working well in practice. All in all we are pleased with the results.

Next we have to integrate/wire all the pieces together inside when she gets back to the dock. That will be a separate post.

We had an original list of what we wanted to accomplish at the yard and we stuck pretty much to the list l (See here for original post)..

We did have to add a couple of items like Replace the tricolor light/strobe with a unit from Luna-Sea as the original OGM tri-color light (from 2005) is prone to interfering with VHF/AIS. We changed out the old halyard grabbing deck spot lights. We also decided to add a Pan/Tilt/Zoom camera at mid mast level (in hindsight we should have done all 3 cameras PTZ).

With the help of friends April and Chris, we moved Narnia to the boatyard on June 5th (Note: if you need to get somewhere fast, let April take the helm đŸ™‚

She had her mast pulled on June 6th.

We accomplished a lot, but there is so much more left to do before Narnia is ready to sail again. Subject for a future post.
