Day 7: Honolulu, Hawaii

After 5 days at sea, we finally arrived at our first stop of this 116-day voyage, Honolulu Hawaii. The sun was still down and it was just starting to rain when the ship docked at Pier 2. The Aloha Tower greeted us with its glow. A double rainbow made an appearance just after breakfast. We would be docked here until 11PM tonight.

We had big plans for the day and had arranged for a rental car so we could drive to numerous destinations on the island, but we (and many other passengers) had caught a respiratory virus during the passage from LA and were not feeling up to grand active adventures. We did manage a short drive to the Dole plantation to feed the koi (a tradition each time we come to Oahu), drove to the North Shore to Teds Bakery (another tradition) and then stopped at one of the ubiquitous food trucks for lunch. The weather ranged from misty to torrential downpours.

With our cold meds were wearing off, we made a quick trip the Walmart and Foodland in Pearl City to pick up some items we forgot to pack, returned the rental car 6 hours early, returned to the ship and called it a day. We hope to feel better tomorrow for Kauai.
