It’s February 18th so it must be Melbourne! We arrived at the port of this capital city just after 10AM and secured directly across from the Viking Orion. Today was another picture-perfect weather day. Our original plan was to do an e-bike tour of the city, but it turns out the tour was oversold, and we did not clear the waitlist. Our backup plan was to take an Uber to the expansive Queen Victoria Market and explore the area by foot and free city tram.
Our driver picked us up just outside of the port and deposited us 20 minutes later in the heart of the market. It was huge and had everything you could ever want to buy, name it and it could be found here. As is our custom when visiting city markets, we concentrated our efforts on the fresh food sections. We grabbed a spinach Börek for lunch and with map in hand, went off to explore more of this diverse, bustling, modern city.
After exploring the area surrounding the market on foot, we caught the free tram that runs in a circle through the central business district jumped off at the park just outside Melbourne Museum. Sometime later we caught Uber back to the ship just before sail away. Melbourne is an amazing city and our stay was much to short to even scratch the surface on exploring what this city has to offer. We will be back.
