Day 73: Kusadasi, Turkey

Ah, the historic port of Kusadasi, Turkey. The gateway to the ancient city of Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis, the House of the Virgin Mary, and several other significant religious sites. We first visited Kusadasi in 1998 aboard the “original” Island Princess as part of a Holyland Cruise (she was scrapped in 2014), so it is only fitting that we should visit again on the “new” Island Princess on our current visit. During our visit in 1998 we ventured out and explored all of the major tourist sites and spice markets. It was an exhilarating experience that we looked forward to repeating, but yes, you guessed it, we were still too sick to get off the ship, much less handle the rigors of exploring this remarkable area. We stayed aboard and enjoyed the empty ship, took our medicines, and slept. We were very disappointed to miss out. This virus is kicking our butts. Let’s hope it runs it course soon so we can get back out to explore!
