The Saturday before Easter finds us on a early morning very rough and windy approach to Cadiz, Spain. Caldiz is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, was founded by the Phoenicians as a trading post. Holy Week celebrations were underway with Christians Brotherhoods in Capirote (pointed hoods) were conducting reenactment processions in the old city. It was a sight to behold.

As with many new ports, we booked at Hop On Hop Off tour to get an overview of the city. The tour lasted an hour and a half drove by the main sites of the Cadiz Cathedral, the Roman Theater, the Castle of San Sebastián, the Castle of Santa Catalina, the Alameda Apodaca promenade, and the Parque Genovés botanical gardens. After the drive-by tour, Sue enjoyed the downtown while Dan walked back to the sites for a more thorough exploration, over 5 miles in all. A wonderful time in Cadiz. Tomorrow will be Easter in Morocco.
