We bought a dock!
While Scotty was vacationing at Auntie April’s, we moved Narnia to her new “permanent” home on SF Bay. Yes we bought a dock in Emeryville so we could legally live aboard Narnia.

We purchased a slip for Narnia at the Emery Cove Yacht Harbor in Emeryville Ca. We use to keep our 2005 Hunter 46 here from 2005-2010, so know we like the harbor and enjoy the sailing area. At “only” 40′ long, Narnia is the smallest boat in the land of giants at this end of […]
Exciting Friday evening.. Physical design review with Dan on Narnia navigation instrumentation .. oh my!! Just love this stuff !!!Narnia’s electronics are circa 2005 and generally still work great, but we need to augment them so we can use “modern” convivences like iPads and Laptops to Plan, Control and View the various aspects of the […]
Note to self: make sure there are a few extra screwdrivers on Narnia. Dan is working on the anchor chain counter tonight ..The counter uses small magnets in the windlass drum to count revolutions and convert it into feet back at the control head in the cockpit.
Hung our first picture tonight on Narnia (sunrise photo from Emeryville last month )
Narnia came fairly well equipped with electronics that were state of the art in 2005. Over the years the previous owner added, changed, and removed components with little thought to those that would come after him. I’m playing detective to try and figure out (and label) what’s what in the mass of wiring. I love […]
The top of the fuel tanks had some corrosion when we purchased Narnia. It’s time to clean them up. A brass brush, some baking soda, and lots of elbow grease. Left side cleaned in this picture.
Narnia will be getting a new dingy in a few weeks. Dan is working hard to get the old 15 HP outboard working for the dingy …
Dan was able to capture the beautiful sunrise this morning (no filter used on camera)…
Sue successfully sent her first PACTOR message to KG6SJT (Brother Greg)… Message was relayed via HAM radio through W7WAM in Oregon (514 miles away)!
One of today’s projects for Dan was to reseal the refrigerator.
Heavy windy wet rainstorm today. When we got to Narnia (planned two night stay), discovered that forward cabin floor was flooded and bilge pump earning its keep… Looks like we have a leak at the mast boot that runs down the mast in the forward stateroom into the bilge area that has an automatic bilge […]
A homemade gift from Paul & Sherry. We love it!
What better way to start Christmas then with a trip to the pump-out dock. All went well, no drama.
We were here for sailing certifications What a gorgeous “school room”. Going to be hard to leave.
Congratulations! Sue passed all of her tests with flying colors (she actually beat Dan on some). Sue is now a “certified sailor” â›µï¸ keelboat.. basic coastal cruising… and bareboat cruising. Wahooo! 1 week Live Aboard classes on s/v Journey in La Paz, Mexico. Sailing the Sea of Cortez. Gorgeous area.
After being stuck at the dock due to high winds in the Sea of Cortez, we are finally out and sailing. We made good use of our time studying while pinned to the dock.
When we got Narnia her Canvas was pretty worn out and needed replacement. Today we received the Dodger, Bimini and connector. We are also having a a full enclosure made. We don’t know when it will be done.
Time to start studying… 7 day live aboard sailing class starts in 3 weeks in Mexico.. Excited to get my Bareboat and Coastal Cruising certifications… Hope to get a little “smarter and/or wiser”.. if not, should have a good suntan…!
2018-10-28 23:40:16 SF Bay Our friend April came along as the 1st official passenger aboard Narnia. Loved having her aboard. We chased the fog around the bay.
