Dan was able to capture the beautiful sunrise this morning (no filter used on camera)…
Sue successfully sent her first PACTOR message to KG6SJT (Brother Greg)… Message was relayed via HAM radio through W7WAM in Oregon (514 miles away)!
One of today’s projects for Dan was to reseal the refrigerator.
Heavy windy wet rainstorm today. When we got to Narnia (planned two night stay), discovered that forward cabin floor was flooded and bilge pump earning its keep… Looks like we have a leak at the mast boot that runs down the mast in the forward stateroom into the bilge area that has an automatic bilge […]
A homemade gift from Paul & Sherry. We love it!
What better way to start Christmas then with a trip to the pump-out dock. All went well, no drama.
We were here for sailing certifications What a gorgeous “school room”. Going to be hard to leave.
Congratulations! Sue passed all of her tests with flying colors (she actually beat Dan on some). Sue is now a “certified sailor” â›µï¸ keelboat.. basic coastal cruising… and bareboat cruising. Wahooo! 1 week Live Aboard classes on s/v Journey in La Paz, Mexico. Sailing the Sea of Cortez. Gorgeous area.
After being stuck at the dock due to high winds in the Sea of Cortez, we are finally out and sailing. We made good use of our time studying while pinned to the dock.
When we got Narnia her Canvas was pretty worn out and needed replacement. Today we received the Dodger, Bimini and connector. We are also having a a full enclosure made. We don’t know when it will be done.
Time to start studying… 7 day live aboard sailing class starts in 3 weeks in Mexico.. Excited to get my Bareboat and Coastal Cruising certifications… Hope to get a little “smarter and/or wiser”.. if not, should have a good suntan…!
2018-10-28 23:40:16 SF Bay Our friend April came along as the 1st official passenger aboard Narnia. Loved having her aboard. We chased the fog around the bay.
Mr. Scotty’s first cruise on Narnia.. He smiled the entire time (we motored to the fuel dock/pump out station and back). We even got to see two seals!
1st time having all 3 sails up (Mainsail, Jib, Staysail). Was an awesome day.
Attending the Annapolis Boat show in Maryland. This place is huge!! Lots of ways to spend $. Highlight of my day was piloting the classic 75′ 3 Mast ship Woodwind II.
Success! Dan is now able to send email via ham radio frequencies (no WiFi or internet needed). The last email he sent, he was able to connect to a ham radio station 1,478 miles away in Narnia’s home state of Texas to deposit the email for delivery back to California.. THIS now means that we […]
Another wonderful day of sailing. Winds from 8-22 knots. Narnia got up to 8 knots under sail (and 30 degree heel)… We saw dolphins & one seal as well !!
Dan working hard on trying to send email via single side band (aka ham radio) on Narnia. Getting closer. Using Winlink software connected to a PACTOR 3 Modem and icomM802 Radio. Using one of the aft stays as the antennae. No luck yet..
Wonderful 3rd sail on Narnia. 22 knot winds, full Jib for a long time, went around Angel Island through Raccoon Straights and Narnia got to good view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Highest speed under sail was 8.3 knots on a close reach towards the wind. She is loving the San Francisco Bay (and so […]
