We’re Off to Iceland! (finally)

We are finally off to Iceland. We flew from Oakland to Seattle on 5/13/2021 were we spent the night. The Seattle airport was a culture shock to say the lease. We have been social distancing / isolating for over a year and boarding in OAK was quiet and a bit sedate. When we exited into Seattle, the shear mass of people packed together was overwhelming. It was like the virus never happened there.

We were supposed to catch a direct flight from Seattle to Keflavik/Reykjavik , but our flight changed last minute and we had to connect through JFK then on to Iceland. It took awhile to get checked in at SEA on 5/14/2021 as the ticket agents were still learning the new COVID rules for travel. We presented our passports, vaccination cards and proof of registration with with Iceland Health officials, the agent disappeared into a back room and emerged 5 min later to let us know all was in order. She issued our boarding passes and we were off.

JFK was empty and most businesses were closed (at least it was in our part of the terminal), but the wine bar was open so we sat and sipped wine while we waited for our 8:40PM flight. We are well on our way!
