It’s Easter Sunday in the US and after many months of planning, itinerary changes, and travel visa applications, we are finally off on our 52 day trek. The car service picked us up at the appointed hour and whisked us off to the airport. For the 1st leg of this journey we decided to fly Qatar Airways from San Francisco to Bangkok with a 3 hour layover in Doha Qatar. This allowed us to technically check Qatar off of our “Countries List”.
Check-in was quick and efficient, and we soon found ourselves in the Air France lounge (Qatar doesn’t have their own lounge in SFO), enjoying a light lunch and drinks while awaiting our flight. We boarded and settled in for our 1st flight (SFO to Doha, Qatar) which was 14 hours, 28 minutes, takeoff to landing.
As many know, Qatar Airways has a reputation of customer service and luxury, and this flight did not disappoint. The service, food and amenities were all top-notch. From the time we boarded, we were well pampered and very well fed. The flight was smooth, long, but uneventful. We landed in Doha in the late Monday afternoon. One more country off the list.
