Today we arrive back where we started this adventure 117 days ago, San Pedro, California. We have completed our lap around the planet while visiting 44 ports in 23 Countries/Autonomous Regions, 9 of them were new for us. Our original plan was 25 countries with 11 new, but we missed Croatia and Montenegro due to adverse weather. We will make an effort to get back and check them off our list. Check out: https://svnarnia.com/world-cruise-2025 for a complete view of the journey.

We packed our bags last night, went to bed late and were up early to watch our arrival into the Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center just beneath the Vincent Thomas Bridge. We had breakfast delivered to the room, champaign toasted the sunrise then proceeded to lounge to await disembarkation. We didn’t wait long.
United States Customs and Immigration formalities were painless and expedient, and we soon found ourselves, along with our overstuffed luggage, in an Uber on our way to the Long Beach airport. We love flying out of Long Beach, it small (11 gates), friendly, and only about 20 miles from the cruise port.
A quick 1-hour flight on Southwest Airlines and we land at the Sacramento Airport. Sue collected the luggage while Dan picked up our rental car. A one-way rental is much cheaper than 4 months of parking or taking an Uber. After 40 minutes of driving, feels strange after a 4 month lapse, we arrive home to “Welcome Home” ballons tied to our door (thank you Paul and Sherry!).
We brought in the luggage, restarted the utilities (gas/water) and plugged in the appliances. The refrigerator was empty. A quick trip to our local Poke take-out place and a bottle red wine solves the problem of what to have for dinner. We can go shopping tomorrow. The 4 months of mail can wait. Tonight, we sleep in our own bed. It’s good to be back.
