Dan working hard on trying to send email via single side band (aka ham radio) on Narnia. Getting closer. Using Winlink software connected to a PACTOR 3 Modem and icomM802 Radio. Using one of the aft stays as the antennae. No luck yet..
Wonderful 3rd sail on Narnia. 22 knot winds, full Jib for a long time, went around Angel Island through Raccoon Straights and Narnia got to good view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Highest speed under sail was 8.3 knots on a close reach towards the wind. She is loving the San Francisco Bay (and so […]
Since Narnia made her way to California by truck, we had to disassemble her in Texas and reassemble her here. One of the things we need to do is “recommission” the auto-pilot so that it has a good frame of reference on how to control Narnia. It’s basically consists of motoring in circles and performing […]
Narnia’s first shakedown Sail in SF bay. Beautiful day of 20 knot winds and misty horizons. The boat and crew did awesome.
Spent last 3 days “deep cleaning” Narnia. Cleaned out everything and took soap, water, toothbrush, scrub pad to Every Inch of cabin area, storage compartments, under/behind settees, under floors., cushions, headliner etc. Now finding homes for all of the equipment/ supplies needed to make a sailing boat a home.
if I can’t find Dan while on the boat, check the lazarett (it is huge…). He is greasing the rudder mechanism (my job- turn the steering wheel on demand. Oh, and drink wine ..LOL)
Narnia left the boatyard in Richmond and motored to her new home in Emeryville. Wonderful summer day on the bay. 20K winds as is usual for this time of year. Can’t wait to sail.
Making progress. Mast is back together, ready for stepping tomorrow. Tried out the new propeller, works perfectly. Hanging back in the sling tonight so we could touch up some bottom paint.
Narnia spent her life as a Texas Gulf boat. Today she gets a taste of the Pacific. She was launched this morning and is currently a powerboat. Hope to get her mast and sails on soon.
Spent today putting Narnia’s mast back together. We had to strip most of the items off for transport. Radar, Radar Reflector, Loud Hailer, Lights, Spreaders and other items. Also had to run new wire and conduit.
Jigsaw puzzle time.. trying to figure out the canvas pieces that came with Narnia … Update: puzzle complete just missing a few key pieces 🙂
Narnia transported very well from Texas .. No major issues !She will spend a few days here being put back together.
Narnia was finally moved from her stands and placed on the the truck. She’s ready for her trip from Texas to California! Should be just over a week.
After a couple of weeks delay for the truck, the final prepping and packing for Narnia’s trip to California. Decks are stripped. Mast and boom wrapped. Anchors off. Nard dodger off. Parts all loaded in the Penske truck that Sue and I will drive home. She gets hauled onto the semi truck tomorrow 8am. She’s […]
While waiting for the truck to transport Narnia to California, we decided to have some work done while she was in Texas.New bottom paint. New propeller. New through hulls. She will also get a new Hailing Port on the stern. Lots more work ahead of us to get her ready for transport.
Yes it’s official, as of today we are the proud owners of the 2005 Caliber 40 LRC SE Sailing Vessel Narnia. We purchased her in Kemah, Texas. We couldn’t be more excited. We will arrange to move her to California by truck next month.
