Tomorrow, we leave on our Overseas Adventure Travel trip to Machu Picchu, Peru and Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. You can read how this trip came about here.
We have an 9AM flight tomorrow from San Francico airport to Lima Peru, with a stopover in Miami. The total flying time is just over 13.5 hours. As is our habit before long early morning flights from SFO, we booked a hotel near the airport, so we can arrive in the morning without worrying about morning commute traffic drama.
We checked into our hotel, had dinner at Fiddler’s Green pub (a tradition started years ago), dropped our car off at the airport, and then caught the shuttle back to the hotel. We are eager to start our trip.
Over the years we have found that renting a car one-way from home to the airport the night before, and then taking the hotel shuttle is the cheapest and most flexible option for long trips that are over a week long.
