Today we booked a Hop On Hop Off (aka HOHO) bus tour so that we could get a good overview of the city. The Turibus Yellow Route would take us past many of Lima’s iconic stops including: Kennedy Park, Larcomar, Bicentenario Park, Huaca Pucllana, Mercados Incas, รvalo Gutierrez, Intihuatana Park, Magic Fountains of Lima, San Martรญn Plaza, and the Alameda Chabuca Granda.
On our way to pick up the bus at the Larcomar shopping center, we made happy 2 discoveries. The first was a very cute statue of Paddington Bear (who we all know is originally from darkest Peru), the second was our 1st Christmas tree siting of the season.
As this was just an overview day for us, we did not spend much time at the stops along the way (just getting off for the occasional photo) and rode the same bus for the entire circuit. An added bonus on today’s tour was a local distillery rep boarded the bus and provided us with a free tasting of their wares.
We had a late lunch of Pizza (a tradition) , Aji De Polo (had to compare to what we made in class) and wine at Restaurant Angello near Kenedy Park. The food didnโt compare, there is no need to go back.
Some of these locations on the route we will return to in the coming days when we join our Overseas Adventure Travel tour group, but it was nice to get the lay of the land.
